​Business Start-Up Services 

Starting a trucking company? One of the first things on your checklist should be your EIN and USDOT Number, we can help you take care of both.

  • EIN (Employer ID Number)

    • ​Required by the IRS to open a business bank account, file taxes, and hire employees

  • USDOT Number

    • This number is used by the FMCSA to track your company's safety and compliance.​

​

Operating  Authorities 

Whether you're hauling freight, brokering loads, or operating within a single state, the right authority is essential for compliance and operations.​​

 

  • Interstate Authorities (Crossing State Lines)

    • Motor Carrier (MC) Authority: Required for for-hire carriers operating across state lines.

    • BOC-3 Filing: Mandated legal agent designation in every state (required for all FMCSA-authorized entities).

  • Intrastate Authorities (Operating Within One State)​

    • Intrastate Carrier Authority: For for-hire operations within a single state (varies by state).​

​​​Registration Services

We handle the two most important registrations for your trucking business.

 

  • IRP (International Registration Plan)

    • Required for commercial vehicles over 26,000 lbs or with 3+ axles traveling across state lines. Also called Apportioned Plates or a Prorate Account.

​

  • UCR (Unified Carrier Registration)

    • Annual registration for all interstate carriers, brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies operating in the U.S., Canada, or Mexico. Based on the number of trucks you operate.

Fuel & Highway Use Tax​

Stay compliant and avoid penalties with the fuel and use tax filings required for heavy trucks and interstate carriers.

  • Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT)

    • Form 2290 Filing
      Annual IRS tax for trucks over 55,000 lbs that operate on public highways.

    • 2290 Amendments
      Make updates for VIN corrections, weight changes, or mileage over 5,000.

    • Form 8849 Refund
      Claim a refund for vehicles that were sold, destroyed, stolen, or used less than 5,000 miles during the tax year.

  • IFTA Fuel Tax Reporting

    • IFTA Registration & Filing
      Required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs or with 3+ axles traveling across state lines. Filed quarterly.

    • IFTA Amendments
      Make corrections to previously filed IFTA returns.

  • State-Specific Weight & Distance Taxes

    • Kentucky (KYU)
      Trucks over 26,000 lbs must register and file quarterly.

    • New York (NY HUT)
      Applies to vehicles 18,000 lbs or more. Must file quarterly.

    • New Mexico Weight Distance Tax
      Required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs. Filed quarterly.

    • Oregon Weight-Mile Tax
      Applies to trucks over 26,000 lbs. File monthly for the first year, then quarterly.
